TV 2 has licensed the rights in the The Olympics Games from Discovery and will be covering the Winter Olympics 2022 and the Summer Olympics 2024 with DR.

The biggest sports event in the world, The Olympic Games, will be back on TV 2’s channels in 2022 and 2024 when TV 2 will cover The Olympic Games with DR. They are The Olympic Winter Games in Beijing in 2022 and The Olympic Summer Games in Paris in 2024, and they may be followed e.g. on TV 2’s channels and on TV 2 PLAY.

- The Olympic Summer Games are the world’s biggest event followed by billions of people all over the world – and also gathering the Danes as we saw it in Rio in 2016 and in London in 2012. The Olympic Games include a wealth of sports and we are thrilled that we – together with DR – can present The Olympic Games to the Danes in 2022 and 2024. Particularly high are our expectations to The Olympic Summer Games in Paris which is so close to – and without time difference from – Denmark, says Anne Engdal Stig Christensen, CEO of TV 2.

The most intensive coverage of the Olympics on TV 2’s channels ever
Since the most recent Olympic Summer Games, TV 2 has significantly increased its sports offers to the Danish with new sports properties and an additional sports channel, TV 2 SPORT X, as well as a number of live channels on TV 2 PLAY. And all these platforms will come into play when the coverage of the The Olympic Games starts.

- The Olympic Games is a land of milk and honey for sports lovers, and the event is a perfect match for TV 2 with our broad main channel, two sports channels and many live channels on TV 2 PLAY. TV 2’s coverage of the coming Olympic Games with be the most intensive ever for Danish viewers and streamers, says Frederik Lauesen, Head of Sports at TV 2.

The Olympic Games are – by far – the mostly watched sports event of the year in the years when The Olympic Summer Games take place and are covered on national channels. During the latest summer Olympic Games in Rio, every Dane spent more than 20 hours following the Olympic Games on television.
